Legislative Breakfast Canceled Due to Impending Storm

Lindenhurst Council of PTAs President Julie Cicchetti says the decision was made Thursday morning to cancel Saturday's event at the high school.

The 2013 Legislative Breakfast scheduled for Saturday, February 9, has been canceled.

"We canceled it because of the impending snow storm," Lindenhurst Council of PTAs President Julie Cicchetti told Lindenhurst Patch on Thursday.

For the past six years the event - sponsored and organized by the Council - has brought together local legislators and the Lindy community together at the high school for a discussion and question-and-answer session about topics pertaining to the school district.

This would've been the seventh consecutive year, but Mother Nature had other plans as the National Weather Service upgraded to a blizzard watch on Thursday ahead of the Noreaster taking aim at Long Island on Friday into Saturday.

"We decided this morning to cancel it," Cicchetti said, noting that the Council will be discussing if and when the Breakfast could be rescheduled.

"All of the legislators have made other dates for other legislative breakfasts, so we would have to see if there's availability. We have to wait and see," she said.

"We'll let everyone know if and when we reschedule, but as of right now it's canceled," she added.

In the meantime the Council is gearing up for its upcoming Fourth Annual Comedy Show at Governor's Comedy Club in Levittown.

"It's set for February 28, a Thursday night, and it helps raise money for the eight scholarships we give out in May," Cicchetti explained.

Tickets are $20 each.
