Lindenhurst Schools' Universal Pre-K Lottery Opens Jan. 24

The program runs from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday during the 2022-23 school year. Students will be chosen at random via lottery.

LINDENHURST, NY — Parents who want to enroll their children in Lindenhurst schools' all-day Pre-K program now have their chance.

The Lindenhurst Union Free School District's Universal Pre-K lottery for the 2022-23 school year opens on Monday, Jan. 24, and it will remain open through Friday, Feb. 18. Any applications received after Feb. 18 will automatically be put on a waitlist.

To be eligible, candidates must be Lindenhurst residents that turned 4 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2022.

Students are chosen via lottery; so the program is not first-come, first-served. Officials said seats are limited, and children will be placed on a waitlist once all seats are filled.

The Universal Pre-K program runs Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It's free, though parents must provide transportation for their children.

Families of lottery-winning students will be notified and required to complete the registration process at that time. Families of students on the waitlist will also be notified of their status.

Applications can be found here, and they can also be picked up at the McKenna Administration Building (350 Daniel St.). Once filled out, parents should mail the form to:
