NY Rising Holding Workshop for Lindy on Oct. 1

Local event aims to help those affected by recent storms rebuild communities.

The New York Rising Community Reconstruction Program will hold a public open house workshop in Lindenhurst on Oct. 1.

The program, which was established to provided additional rebuilding and revitalization assistance to communities hit hard by Hurricane Sandy, as well as Tropical Storms Irene and Lee, will hold the event at the Rainbow Center (Lindenhurst Community Center) at 293 Buffalo Avenue starting at 6 p.m.

The event, according to organizers, will be focused on helping residents gain knowledge, experience and recommendations that will be be essential to the development of the area's reconstruction. The event will also held communities identify reconstruction projects and other actions that would consider current damage, future threats and help to the local economy.

Organizers urged members of the village to provide input on the work that has already been completed.

The informational public event will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is open to all members of the public.
