Spring 2013 Continuing Ed Registration Deadlines Nearing

Registration deadlines for adult and continuing education classes offered by Lindenhurst Schools are February 1 (mail-in) and February 5 (in-person). Classes begin on February 25.

For residents seeking to learn something new this Spring, Lindenhurst School District is once again offering "Learning for Life" adult and continuing education classes.

And the deadlines are nearing.

For adult and continuing education classes offered by the District, the deadlines are February 1 (mail-in) and February 5 (in-person). Classes begin for the Spring 2012 semester on February 25.

Course Offerings
There are a variety of courses in a wide array of categories, including Computers, Cooking, Creative and Fine Arts, Dance, Sports and Exercise, and Enriching and Informative.

For example, residents could learn how to make some comfort food favorites and learn how to make jewelry. For those seeking to get and stay in shape, there's Zumba, Pilates, Spinning, Body Sculpting and Fitness for Seniors.

Residents could also take such classes as Guitar and Italian for Everyone. They could get their lifeguard certification and take a boating or safe driving course. An SAT Prep course is also available.

One-Night Seminars include Notary Public Training, Taking the Guesswork out of SSI Benefits, and Tot Saver.

Requirements
Registrants must be 16 and older. Mail-in registration deadline for these classes is February 1, and should be sent to Adult/Continuing Education, Lindenhurst Public Schools, P.O. Box 621, Lindenhurst, New York 11757.

In-person registration is scheduled for February 5, at the Lindenhurst Middle School, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The District advises residents to postmark applications - one per person/class, with signature, date and phone number and a separate check or money order for each class payable to Lindenhurst Public Schools - on or before February 1.

According to the District, residents should register early by mail before February 1. Otherwise, mail requests will be processed after the in-person registration.

Spring semester classes begin February 25.

No confirmations will be mailed. According to the District, residents should assume they've been enrolled, unless contacted.

No refunds will be issued, unless a class doesn't have sufficient registration or has too many students. Only registered students may attend class. And an $8.00 fee per course is added for non-residents.

GED and ESL
English as a Second Language and Literacy Counseling/Career Development are also available. Residents 21 and older could also obtain their GED.

Registration for the GED and ESL courses is on-going, according to the District, and could be done in-person at the LMS every Tuesday and Thursday, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
