Town Reopens Tanner Park Skatepark
Heavily damaged skatepark reopens to the public after three year closure.
Many years after being officially closed by the Town due to unsafe conditions, Babylon Town officials helped reopen the Tanner Park Skatepark in Copiague on Tuesday.
Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Councilman Tony Martinez, Town Clerk Carol Quirk and Suffolk County Legislator DuWayne Gregory were on hand to help cut the ribbon as tens of skaters flooded into the nearly remodeled park.
The Town was forced to close the skatepark three years ago after it fell into disrepair due to storms and regular wear and tear. The town used cost savings from other project to help fund a remodeling project.
