Woman Struck, Injured by Car; Driver Ticketed
A pedestrian struck on North Wellwood Avenue on Saturday night by a woman who reportedly fled the scene and later returned, according to a published report.
A pedestrian was struck and injured on North Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst on Saturday evening by another woman in a car.
Suffolk County police said in a report on Newsday.com a 62-year-old woman allegedly hit the unidentified woman with her car on February 23 and left the scene, only to return later to receive a ticket.
Police said in the report the woman was driving a Toyota on North Wellwood Avenue and Fremont Street approximately 6 p.m. when she purportedly hit the female pedestrian and left the scene.

The pedestrian with a head laceration was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, but her injuries weren't considered life-threatening, police said in the report.
Police said in the report when the driver later returned to the scene, she was issued a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident with an injury.

Police didn't release the name of the driver or the victim, according to the report.
