County's 9/11 Memorial Remembers Long Beach Residents

Barrier island individuals listed among Nassau County's casualties.

The September 11, 2001 Memorial at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow memorializes the casualties from Nassau County of the Al-Qaeda terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center twelve years ago. Five Long Beach residents are listed among the names on the memorial's wall: Michael Carlo, FDNY Engine 230; Stephen Hoffman, Cantor Fitzgerald, Greg Stajk, FDNY Engine 22; Noell Maerz, Eurobrokers; and William McGovern, FDNY. Among the other individuals from the Long Beach barrier island killed that day are as follows: 

  • Bettina Brown-Radburn - AON
  • Capt. Terrence Hatton - FDNY Rescue 1
  • Michael Kiefer - FDNY Ladder 132
  • Neil Levin - Port Authority
  • Charles Lucania - Electrician Local 3
  • Terrance Manning - Conference at WTC
  • Ken Marino - FDNY Rescue 1
