Electric Bike Rider Killed In Nassau Crash With Car: Police

The 79-year-old E-bike rider was transported to a nearby hospital where he died, police said.

ISLAND PARK, NY — One person is dead as an E-bike and a car collided in Island Park on Sunday morning, police said.

A 79-year-old man was operating the E-Bike southbound on the sidewalk of Austin Boulevard in the vicinity of Audubon Boulevard where a red Kia Sportage being driven by a 75-year-old woman was exiting a Dunkin’ Donuts drive-thru, police said.

In an attempt to avoid a collision, the male swerved and fell off his E-bike into the roadway where he was struck by the Kia, authorities said.

The bicyclist was transported to a nearby hospital where he died, police said.

No other injuries were reported.
