Here’s what’s happening in Long Beach on Wednesday.
- Insurance Seminar: The Touro Law Center, home of the Superstorm Sandy Disaster Relief Clinic, will hold a seminar exclusively on the impending deadline for insurance claims at Lindell School, 601 Lindell Blvd. in Long Beach, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, Legislator Denise Ford of Long Beach and The Beach to Bay Central Council of Civics, an upstart organization acting as a central resource for civic associations on the barrier island, sponsor the seminar.
- Memorial Benches: Author Jeff Singer will talk about his book “Reflections: A Tribute to the Long Beach Benches” at Long Beach Library, 111 W. Park Ave., at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The guide is a compilation of 150 stories that memorialize loved ones with a 250 word story of what made this person so unique and special.
- BOE Meeting: The Long Beach Board of Education will meet at the main conference room at Long Beach Middle School, 239 Lido Blvd. in Lido Beach, at 6 p.m. to vote to go into an executive session to discuss personnel issues regarding specific personnel and pending and proposed legal matters. This will not be a regular board meeting.
- Get Your Fruits and Veggies: The Farmer’s Market is in business every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kennedy Plaza outside Long Beach City Hall. (The market returns on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
- Weather: Forecasters predict mostly cloudy skies and a 10 percent chance of rain in Long Beach on Wednesday. The mercury is expected to climb into the mid-60s.
