The inaugural Larry Elovich 5K memorial fun run and walk will start and finish at New York Avenue and West Broadway at 9 a.m. Aug. 3. Elovich was a Long Beach attorney, a former Long Beach Democratic Committee chairman and past president of the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce who died on Sept. 21, 2012. He was 77. The Larry Elovich Scholarship Fund will host the event in cooperation with the City of Long Beach.
All participants who complete the race will receive a medal. T-shirts will be given to the first 300 registrants on the day of the run/walk beginning at 7:30 a.m. at New York Avenue. Visit www.longbeachny.gov/rec to download an application.
