State records reveal the City of Long Beach-run childcare center violated regulations that pertain to the use of appropriate discipline, supervision, and protection of the "physical, intellectual, social, cultural and emotional well-being of the children," all of which stem from an incident in which an employee struck a child with a shoe, according to Newsday.
Casey McNulty, a spokeswoman for the Office of Children and Family Services, said the city has corrected the violations by terminating the employee, whose name city officials declined to reveal to Newsday, and by holding training sessions for the day care center’s 14 employees, after which the state brought the program back into compliance in late August.
McNulty said the state: "was satisfied with the actions taken by the facility to correct the violations.”Find out what's happening in Long Beachfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
