L.B. Girls Soccer Falls to Conference Rival Port Washington

The Long Beach girls soccer team played a solid first half before falling to rival Port Washington 3-1 Wednesday.

Top performers for Port Washington were Olivia Fetherston with one goal and one assist; Casey Cybriwsky and Olivia Ressa with one goal each; Rachel Rosen and Kimmy Zhirzhan each with an assist; and goalie Michele Lammers with four saves.

"Last year it came down to the last minute and we lost by one goal, so this was a big game," Lammers said.

Lammers noted that the team wasn't playing at game speed in the scoreless first half as Long Beach beat the Vikings to every ball. Port Washington outscored its opponent 3-1 in the second half to take control of the game.

The loss puts the Marines at the bottom of Conference AA-2 at 0-3-1, while the Vikings sit atop the conference tied with Hicksville at 3-0-1

Next up for Long Beach is a road game against Herricks (0-4-1) on Friday.
