Swimmer, 10, Rescued In Atlantic Beach: Police
An off-duty Nassau police lieutenant assisted an Atlantic Beach Village lifeguard brought the boy to safety, police say.
ATLANTIC BEACH, NY — A young swimmer was rescued in Atlantic Beach on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The 10-year-old boy became under distress near the Clearwater Beach Club.
An off-duty Nassau police lieutenant assisted an Atlantic Beach Village lifeguard in rescuing the boy to safety, police said.

The boy refused medical attention.

The Nassau County Police Department recommends that swimmers always be aware of their surroundings and dangerous riptides. Swim only where lifeguards are present and during daylight hours only.
