The Real Estate Institute at Stony Brook University Hosts Annual Fall Luncheon
A vital conversation on changes and challenges to the Long Island real estate insurance market

The Real Estate Institute (REI) at Stony Brook University recently announced it will host its Annual Fall Luncheon on Monday, November 10, at the Heritage Club at Bethpage, bringing together leading voices in real estate, insurance and risk management to examine how today’s changing insurance market is reshaping the landscape for property owners, developers and communities across Long Island. This year’s theme, “Changes and Challenges to the LI Real Estate Insurance Market,” will explore how rising premiums, shifting coverage terms and evolving risk factors are influencing both residential and commercial development across the region. “The real estate industry has always been shaped by external pressures, from interest rates to zoning to market demand, but insurance has become one of the most critical and least predictable variables,” said Robert M. Gitto, Co-Chairperson of the Real Estate Institute at Stony Brook University and President of The Gitto Group. “As costs climb and coverage tightens, it’s never been more important for Long Island’s business community to come together to understand these challenges and find smart, sustainable ways forward.”
This year’s luncheon reaffirms REI’s commitment to serving as a key educational resource for the Long Island business and real estate community. By convening experts to discuss current challenges and practical solutions, REI continues to provide a platform for collaboration and thought leadership on issues that influence growth, investment and long-term regional stability.
