Merrick Gables Cafe Set to Open in July
Owner Brian Sztabnik of Merrick said that the eatery will open in around two weeks.
Brian Sztabnik, 27, said that it was always his dream to open a local hangout spot like The Peach Pit in "Beverly Hills 90210" or The Max in "Saved By The Bell."
In a few weeks, the Merrick native and Calhoun High School graduate will do just that.
Sztabnik's business, Merrick Gables Cafe, will open in the former TCBY building at 2203 Merrick Road in about two weeks.
"It's like a lower East Side cafe and it will have a cozy atmosphere," Sztabnik said.
The cafe will have counter service, seating and WiFi. It will also serve an array of foods and drinks such as paninis, crepes, salads, wraps, hot dogs, smoothies, coffees and teas.
"I want people to come in and relax and make coming here part of their routine," he said. "I want to to be able to know my customers names and know what they want."
Sztabnik's said that Merrick Gables Cafe is his "child" and he happy that he is able to live his dream in the place he calls home.
"I always wanted to open my own business, especially in my own town," he said. "Merrick is a great place."
