- David Criblez checks out a new Halloween House that skips the scary stuff. The attraction is on the second floor of the Samanea Mall in Westbury and opens on Oct. 1. The house is a 45-minute guided tour. (Subscription: Newsday)

- Patch also has the story on Mount Sinai South Nassau placing 65 employees on an unpaid suspension for defying the state vaccine mandate. Another 100 employees have applied for a religious exemption which are being reviewed. (Patch)
- Democrats in Nassau County Legislature temporarily blocked legislation that would cut $100 million in traffic and real estate fees on the same day legislators voted to table County Executive Laura Curran's plan to send $375 payments to households using federal pandemic aid. - Newsday reports that current Nassau County Executive Curran got two police union endorsements. The PBA has not chosen a candidate for County Executive between Curran and Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman. The PBA, the superior officers, the correction officers and the detectives union have all announced an endorsement of Republican district attorney candidate Anne Donnelly over Democratic candidate Todd Kaminsky.
