She served as district director of child nutrition for nine years.

Math question: How many school lunches were prepared for Rocky Point students in the past nine years? That is a question that Mrs. Maureen Branagan, district director of child nutrition, may be able to answer.

For nine years she created lunch menus, oversaw the cafeteria staff in the district’s four schools, made students excited for National School Lunch Week with coloring contests and prizes, navigated student food allergies and educated students on the importance of healthy meals to help them through their school days.

She was recognized with kind words and a plaque by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Scott O’Brien and Assistant Superintendent for Business Mr. Christopher Van Cott at the Aug. 29 board of education meeting for her service to the students of Rocky Point. She will retire on Sept. 30.
