Rocky Point School District Welcomes New Athletic Director
Jonathon Rufa is the new director of health, physical education, athletics and intramurals.

The Rocky Point School District welcomes Jonathon Rufa as the new director of health, physical education, athletics and intramurals. Rufa replaces Charles Delargy who retired at the end of August.

Rufa joins the district with a wealth of educational experience. He most recently served for seven years as the assistant principal of Robert Cushman Murphy Junior High School within the Three Village Central School District. Before taking on the assistant principal role, he was the junior high school physical education, health and athletics chairperson, reporting directly to the district’s executive director of health, physical education, recreation and athletics. In this position, he taught physical education and supervised six physical education teachers, two health teachers and the athletic programs for both R.C. Murphy Junior High School and Three Village’s other junior high school –Paul J. Gelinas Junior High School.
In addition to his leadership in Three Village, Rufa has extensive coaching experience in baseball, basketball, cross-country and soccer at both the junior varsity and varsity levels. He is a graduate of SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor of Science in physical education and a Master of Science in health education. He also earned an Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University.
