Author LIsa Oz Leads Discussion on Women's Health
"EmpowHERing Women: an Evening of Learning, Loving & Living" a fundraising event for Nyack Hospital and Helen Hayes Hospital foundations.

The fundraising arms of Nyack Hospital and Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw are joining forces to sponsor a panel discussion on women's issues that features local doctors and author, producer and entrepreneur Lisa Oz.
"EmpowHERing Women: an Evening of Learning, Loving & Living," is set for Thursday, Sept. 23, 5 to 9 p.m. at Town & Country Caterers on Route 9W in Congers.
The event is co-sponsored by the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation and the Nyack Hospital Foundation. Oz is the keynote presenter at the panel discussion, which will focus on osteoporosis and breast health.

Panelists are: Felicia Cosman, M.D., endocrinologist and osteoporosis specialist at Helen Hayes Hospital, medical director of the National Osteoporosis Foundation and author of "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Osteoporosis will speak on "Strong Bones for Life;" Shari Siegel-Goldman, M.D., radiologist and Director of Breast Imaging at Nyack Hospital will discuss "To Screen or Not to Screen: That is the Question; " Jeri W. Nieves, Ph.D., epidemiologist and director of the Helen Hayes Hospital Clinical Research Center, a national leader in osteoporosis research, will discuss the topic "Vitamin D & Women's Health"; Patricia Joseph, M.D., breast surgeon and Director of Breast & Women's Health Prevention Services at Nyack Hospital will speak on "Breast Health: Taking Care of the Girls." Dr. Joseph currently serves on the Board of Advisors of the American Cancer Society and has been named a "Top Doctor" by Castle Connolly (1999-2010) and in New York Magazine's Top Doctors (1999-2010).
The panel discussion will include a Q&A session.

Oz, author of "US: Transforming Ourselves and the Relationships That Matter Most," with her husband, Dr. Mehmet Oz, has raised four children, coauthored five New York Times best-selling books, including YOU: The Owner's Manual series, and co-hosted a daily radio show on Sirius/XM.
Tickets to the event, which includes the educational panel discussion, a cocktail reception, dinner, keynote presentation and a copy of Oz's book, are $75 and will benefit both the Helen Hayes and Nyack Hospital Foundations. Tickets to a boutique raffle, featuring a selection of unique handbags, gifts and services, will be available.
