OPWDD's Second Priority Setting Meeting

Dear Parents, Families, and Agencies Serving Rockland County:
Please be advised that new monies will become available to help fund Family Support Services(FSS) programs and to enhance existing ones. Although there may be some yet unknownstipulations regarding these funds, you as family members and agencies will have a directinfluence on future Family Support Service Programs by having the ability to vote onhow this money should be spent. This process is facilitated by holding Priority SettingMeetings, or “brainstorming” sessions where the needs of individuals and their families areshared. When the “votes are in”, and priorities are known, they will be integrated in requestsfor proposals (RFPs) which will be sent to agencies wishing to augment or create new FSSfunded programs.
Our first Priority Setting Meeting took place on the evening of December 10th. In order toaccommodate more individuals, a daytime meeting has been set for Tuesday, January 8,2013, at 10:00am. This meeting will take place at the Jesse Kaplan School located on65 Parrott Road, West Nyack, NY. The session is open to parents and to agency personnelserving, or interested in serving Rockland County. If you are unable to attend, you may call oremail me with any ideas you have and they will be presented at the meeting.
Please come with your thoughts and ideas as all are welcomed! Hope to see or hear from all ofyou soon.
Sincerely,Janis Levitt-Family Support Services Coordinator(845) 947-6335Janis.levitt@opwdd.ny.gov
