Freeze Warning, Frost Advisory Before Temps Climb: HV Forecast

Showers and thunderstorms are in there too. Here's the latest.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The week starts out with a freeze warning and a frost advisory and is predicted to end with warmth (with a few showers and thunderstorms on the way).

Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 are expected in Orange County from midnight tonight to 8 a.m. Tuesday. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

For Putnam, Rockland and northern Westchester counties, the National Weather Service warns that temps falling into the mid 30s will result in frost formation overnight in portions of southeast New York, southern Connecticut and northeast New Jersey. Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.

Certainly temperatures will get that low in Dutchess and Ulster, but it's not unexpected at this time of year.

The highs will be what Todd Snow of Hudson Valley Weather called "toasty."
