New City Generals Take Dream Trip To Cooperstown

Fourteen members of the New City Generals U12 Grey Team just returned from a week of playing baseball in Cooperstown.  The players participated in a baseball tournament at Cooperstown Dreams Park as one of 106 teams from throughout the United States and Canada. The Generals’ roster includes players from New City, Pearl River, Orangetown, Haverstraw, Suffern and Ramapo.

The summer tradition brings different teams in over the course of 13 weeks. The players and coaches stay in bunkhouses, interact, socialize and trade team pins with the other teams. For many young players, it can be a highlight of their career.

The Generals team had an exciting week of ball. Brent Allen led the team with hits batting .611 with two homeruns.  Jacob Feder also had two homeruns. Players Matthew Posillipo, Jeffrey Long, Jack Sullivan and Evan Gabriele each drove in one homerun.  The Grey team set a Generals record of the most homeruns in Cooperstown with a total of eight.
