REDC Announces 2013 Economic Development Award Recipients

The Rockland Economic Development Corporation (REDC) announced the recipients of its 19th Annual Economic Development Awards. The awards recognize companies, organizations, and individuals who have shown a commitment to the county’s economic vitality and enhanced the local business climate.

The honorees are: 

  • Dr. Cliff L. Wood, president of Rockland Community College, who is receiving the “Award of Distinction” for his ongoing dedication, commitment and contributions to Rockland; 
  • Congers-based Celtic Sheet Metal, Inc., a manufacturer and subcontractor of sheet metal, is the recipient of the “Manufacturer of the Year Award;” 
  • Adam Lipson of Upper Grandview has been tapped for the “Entrepreneur of the Year Award.” Lipson, the owner of Network & Security Technologies of Pearl River, is known in the Rockland business community for his entrepreneurial spirit. His volunteer and community service activities including, serving on the Board for the American Red Cross of Greater NY and committees for People to People, Center for Safety and Change, Inc., and the Nyack Center.
  • The Salvation Army is being recognized with the “Service Provider of the Year Award,” for its diverse services including disaster relief efforts, after school programs, childcare, education tutoring, emergency assistance and providing shelter, food, clothing, and counseling. The Salvation Army remains on-call ready to assist the Red Cross, local first-responders and communities with major disasters, and is dedicated to providing programs for adults and youth in need in Rockland. The Salvation Army’s local facilities include the worship and community center in Spring Valley, the Eastern Territorial Headquarters in West Nyack, and the Officer Training facility in Suffern
  •  A "Special" Award will be bestowed upon C. Scott Vanderhoef “for two decades of outstanding leadership and invaluable and dedicated service as the Rockland County Executive, to Rockland County and the business community.”

Empire State Development President & CEO and New York State Department of Economic Development Commissioner Kenneth Adams will serve as the keynote speaker. The awards, sponsored by TD Bank, will be presented at a luncheon at Dolce Palisades/IBM Executive Conference Center in Palisades on November 22nd.
