Sen. Gillibrand to Visit Nyack Business Thursday

Senator will speak about small business tax breaks at Maria Luisa's Boutique

 

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) is slated to visit Nyack this Thursday and sound off on proposed legislation aimed at extending tax breaks for small businesses.

Gillibrand, , is set to speak outside on South Broadway.

Titled “The SUCCESS Act,” the legislation would entice investors to put their money in small business stock, continue tax benefits and double deductions for start-up costs.

Whittingham said her shop was selected from a list of candidates, and was recommended by the Rockland Business Association and Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee (D-Suffern).

"We're very excited," Whittingham said. 

As for Gillibrand's efforts, Whittingham is equally eager.

"This is big for small businesses," she said. "The ceiling seems so close to our heads sometimes. It's good to know someone higher up is making changes."

Whittingham said tax relief would allow her to expand her web presence.
