HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Rain persists and freezing rain and snow return to the region through the weekend.

"We will continue to be without a clear view of our nearest star, and we will continue to add to our already saturated conditions across the region," said the folks at Hudson Valley Weather.

A hazardous outlook has been issued for Dutchess and Ulster counties: A period of freezing rain is expected across portions of the Adirondacks, southern Greens and Berkshires starting late Thursday, mainly at elevations above 1500 feet. A period of snow is expected Sunday into Monday, especially for higher terrain areas, the National Weather Service said.

Snow is in the forecast further south as well, after a short period of sun on Saturday.

"It has potential to start out as rainfall as early as Sunday morning. As it strengthens, it will create its own cooler air and transition the event over to snowfall by about dark, Sunday evening. It likely snows, potentially heavy at times through Monday morning," Bruce Furbeck of First Due Weather said on Facebook.
