
Two Bronx women were convicted of grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in connection with shoplifting almost $1,500 worth of sunglasses from Lord & Taylor at the Palisades Center in June.
Loss prevention officers observed Christine Peart, 24, and Atika Baptiste, 26, stealing designer sunglasses from a display, removing security tags and hiding the items in their handbags and pants. Clarkstown police officers later recovered 14 pairs of sunglasses with a retail value of $1,486.
Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe announced Thursday that Peart and Baptiste were both convicted after a bench trial on one count of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree, a class “B” Felony and one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree, a class “A” Misdemeanor. Peart and Baptiste each face up to four years in state prison when sentenced on October 15
