14 Hurt In 5-Alarm Fire Next To Brooklyn's Union Pool: FDNY
A blaze ripped through 484 Union Ave. — the building that houses Williamsburg's iconic bar — early Friday morning, the FDNY said.

NEW YORK CITY — A devastating fire ripped through a Brooklyn building that houses the Union Pool bar early Friday, leaving 14 people injured, FDNY officials said.
The blaze at 484 Union Ave. began about 5:40 a.m. and quickly spread through apartments in the building near Meeker Avenue, officials said.
FDNY officials eventually upgraded it to a five-alarm fire by about 7:10 a.m. as nearly 200 firefighters responded, officials said.

They got the fire under control just before 8 a.m., officials said.

Three civilians and 11 firefighters were hurt in the blaze, officials said. All injuries were non-life threatening, officials said.

Seven firefighters were taken to area hospitals, officials said. All other patients received treatment at the scene, officials said.
Union Pool is an iconic Williamsburg bar and music venue known as a prime hookup location.
The extent of damage to the bar, if any, was unclear Friday morning, but photos posted on Twitter show extensive damage to apartments, a bodega and Chimu, a Peruvian restaurant in the building.
