McDonald's Manager Sold Crack With Burgers And Fries To NYC Customers, Cops Say

Frank Guerrero was arrested in a sting dubbed "Operation Off the Menu."

THE BRONX, NY — A manager at a Bronx McDonald's was charged with drug crimes Wednesday after serving crack to undercover cops with their burgers and fries, the city's special narcotics prosecutor said. NYPD cops and federal agents arrested Frank Guerrero at 5 a.m. Wednesday while he was on the job at the Bruckner Boulevard burger joint – the location of a sting dubbed "Operation Off the Menu," officials said.

Guerrero, 26, a night manager at the 24-hour restaurant in the Soundview neighborhood for at least eight years, sold nearly $11,000 worth of cocaine and crack cocaine to undercover officers during eight transactions, once selling 100 grams of cocaine and some crack for more than $6,200, Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan's office said.

Two separate undercover officers got a cookie bag containing cocaine with their order of two cheeseburgers, fries and a soda, the special prosecutor's office said. Guerrero allegedly stashed his wares in a soap dispenser in a bathroom, officials said.

Guerrero let his customers into the restaurant during his shift even though only the drive-through window was typically open, the special prosecutor's office said. He also allegedly sold cocaine in the parking lot five times over the course of the three-month probe, officials said.

The owner of the McDonald's where Guerrero worked said the store is cooperating with the NYPD.

"The actions of this employee are unacceptable and will not be tolerated in my organization," the franchise owner, Tony Rodriguez, said in a statement.

Officers found 200 grams of cocaine and about $5,300 in cash in the house where Guerrero lived in the Bronx's Pelham neighborhood, officials said. Guerrero allegedly hid money in his 2-year-old child's play room there, officials said. The child's mother, Leidy Cabral Castillo, 24, was also arrested Wednesday, officials said.

Guerrero and Castillo are set to be arraigned Wednesday night in Manhattan criminal court, the special prosecutor's office said. Information about their defense attorneys was not immediately available.

Guerrero faces 10 counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, three counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia and one count of unlawfully dealing with a child. Castillo is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia and one count of unlawfully dealing with a child.
