Joziah Longo, the leadsinger of The Slambovian Circus of Dreams, remembers last playing at the Bitter End in one of his many bands in the 1980s. “My songwriting career was blossoming, and I found encouragement from (actress) Julie Christie and we’d hang out with Lou Reed and see Cherry Vanilla live in concert.”
At first a theatrical troupe, “Circle in the Square” sought songs from Joziah, but soon his bands—The Ancestors, the Grand Slambovians, and his long running group The Slambovian Circus of Dreams—flourished. This intimate Bitter End performance will offer a rare appearance from Joziah and Slambovian friends. He’ll perform never-before heard songs that might end up on the group’s 7th album due late 2026.
A native of Philadelphia, PA, Joziah grew up playing traditional country, folk and Mummers music with his father. He was in the first American band invited to perform in mainland China after Tiananmen Square. The songwriter and frontman for the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, Joziah and his band have been expanding the borders of the Americana genre with their fantastic stories. The group is included in the new book, "Rock 'n Roll Underdogs," and are currently working on a musical, “The Book of Better Things.”
