New Yorkers Vote: See The Best Ride Share Service In NYC
It was a close race. See whether Patch readers prefer Via, Lyft Line, Uber Pool or another service.

NEW YORK, NY — The votes are in, and New York City has decided its favorite ride sharing service. After testing Uber Pool, Lyft Line, Curb Ride Share and Via in a series of road races, Patch asked its readers: Which do you prefer?
With nearly 29 percent of the vote, Via narrowly edged out Uber Pool and Lyft Line, which both earned 25.4 percent. The winner of Patch's own speed test, Curb, did not fare well among readers and only captured 5 percent of the vote. The service Juno got the most write-in votes with a little more than 8 percent of the total vote and some voters elected to write in votes for yellow cabs.

It was clear from responses that New Yorkers care about more than just speed when it comes to ride sharing. Fans of Via loved its flat rates and the fact that its algorithm doesn't let drivers stray too far from the route in search of additional passengers.
"I have to say that Via is an excellent way to meet crazy people. However, I live in Washington Heights and Via is SO much cheaper than any of the others. It's been a lifesaver," one voter responded.

Voters seemed to find Uber drivers the most knowledgeable with directions and liked that Lyft will pick you up at your door instead of making you walk to a nearby avenue to meet your driver.
