NYC Subway Delays: Signal Problems, Train Issues Slow Commutes
Delays were reported on several lines Monday morning due to trains with mechanical issues and signal problems.

NEW YORK, NY — Signal problems and trains with mechanical issues caused delays on several subway lines during the Monday morning commute, according to MTA officials.
Delays and service changes were reported on the D, N, 4, 5, F, C and E trains Monday morning due to various issues, according to the MTA. Trains on the 3 line were also skipping stops in Harlem for about 10 minutes due to a sick passenger.
The train line plagued with the longest delays Monday morning was the F, which experienced the infamous "signal problems" at multiple stations. Problems were reported starting around 5:30 a.m. at both Avenue U and West 8th Street-NY Aquarium, according to the MTA. Trains ran with delays for at least 3 hours Monday morning as crews attempted to fix the problems.

Southbound trains on the D and N line ran with delays Monday morning due to signal problems at the 36th Street station in Brooklyn. The problems were reported around 8:45 a.m., according to the MTA.
Commuters on the C and E lines were also thrown out of sync due to a train with mechanical problems at 14th Street. Service changes on those lines started around 8:25 and were cleared up in about 10 minutes. After the issues were solve, trains ran with delays.

Shortly before 7 a.m. signal problems at the 59th Street station stalled 4 and 5 trains throughout the line. While crews fixed the problem, some northbound 5 stopping along the 2 line from Nevins Street to 149 Street-Grand Concourse, according to the MTA. Normal service was restored to the busy line around 8 a.m.
