NYC Weather: Thunderstorms, Rain Expected To Hit The City

NEW YORK — Keep those umbrellas handy. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to batter New York City on Wednesday, forecasters say.

The temperature Wednesday will climb to a high of 81, according to the National Weather Service. Scattered thunderstorms could hit the city starting Wednesday afternoon and into the night.

New York could see as much as an inch of rain by Wednesday night, forecasters say.

A slight chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. South wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Low around 67. South wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday
A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. West wind around 9 mph.

Thursday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. North wind 7 to 10 mph.

Friday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Northeast wind around 7 mph.
