NYC Weather: Thunderstorms, Showers Could Return To City

NEW YORK CITY — A record-breaking heat wave may be over, but Mother Nature isn't through with New York City this week.

Scattered thunderstorms and showers could return to the city Thursday, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.

The rain is most likely after 2 p.m., the forecast states.

"Chance of precipitation is 40%," the forecast states.

New York City most recently saw thunderstorms Monday as a heat wave entered its eighth day of 90-plus degree temperatures.

Unlike the storms Monday, the storms predicted for Thursday aren't expected to be severe, at least for now, according to the forecast.

The chance of showers and thunderstorms will continue into Friday, before clearing up for the weekend, the forecast states.
