NYC Weekend Subway Service Changes Dec. 1-2

NEW YORK, NY — Here's how the Metropolitan Transportation Authority will screw up your plans this weekend — from late Friday night, Nov. 30, through early Monday morning, Dec. 3— in the name of "upgrading and maintaining our tracks, stations and signal systems in order to continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable service.

Getting around on the subway this weekend is going to be tough, as a staggering 18 train lines will be running with modified service. (For more New York City news delivered straight to your inbox sign up for Patch's free newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

1 train:

• At all times until winter 2018-19, downtown trains skip 238 St due to station improvements. As an alternative, take the Bx9 to 231 St, or take an uptown train to 242 St and transfer to a downtown 1.

4/5 trains:

• From 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, downtown trains will stop at 33 St and 23 St due to station improvements at Grand Central. As a reminder, 5 service does not run in Manhattan overnight.

5 train:

• From 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 and from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, trains run every 20 minutes between Eastchester-Dyre Av and Bowling Green due to station enhancements. Beginning 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 5 service will end early between E 180 St and Bowling Green. Take the 2 or 4.

4/6 trains:

• At all times until December 2018, 4/6 trains will skip 28 St in both directions due to MTA's Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service, use the nearby 6 stations along Park Avenue South at 33 St or 23 St. Or, use the nearby 28 St N/R station on Broadway. • From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, uptown trains run express from 14 St-Union Sq to Grand Central-42 St due to station enhancements at 28 St. As an alternative, use a downtown 4/5 local or 6 to complete your trip. Transfer at Grand Central-42 St or 14 St-Union Sq. As a reminder, the 28 St station is closed in both directions for renovations until December 2018.

7 train:

• From 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, Flushing-Main St bound 7 trains run express from Queensboro Plaza to 74 St-Broadway due to structural maintenance involving steel work near 61 St-Woodside. As an alternative, use a 34 St-Hudson Yards bound 7 train to complete your trip. Transfer at 74 St-Broadway, 61 St-Woodside, or Queensboro Plaza.

A train:

• From 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, downtown trains run local from 59 St-Columbus Circle to W 4 St-Wash Sq due to track maintenance between Jay St-MetroTech and Chambers St.

A/C trains:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, downtown trains are rerouted via the F line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to Jay St-MetroTech to due to track maintenance between Jay St-MetroTech and Chambers St. For Spring St, Canal St and Chambers St, take the E via transfer at W 4 St. For Fulton St, take the E to/from World Trade Center. For High St, use the nearby York St F station. As a reminder, C trains do not run overnight.

B train:

• From 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, B service will end early due to track enhancements between 47-50 Sts and W 4 St. As an alternative, take the C/D and/or Q. As a reminder, B service does not run on weekends.

B/D trains:

• At all times until December 2018, B and D trains will skip 174-175 Sts in both directions due to MTA's Enhanced Station Initiative project. As an alternative, customers are advised to use the nearby Tremont Av or 170 St B/D stations. Use the Bx1 or Bx2 along Grand Concourse and transfer to B or D trains at Tremont Av or 170 St with a MetroCard. For either station, if you need to transfer to another bus, ask the driver for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours. On your return trip, ask the station agent at the Tremont Av or 170 St stations for a transfer to the bus.
• At all times until Jan. 2019, B/D trains will skip 167 St in both directions MTA's Enhanced Station Initiative project. As an alternative, customers are advised to use the nearby stations at 170 St B/D, 167 St 4, or 161 St-Yankee Stadium 4/B/D. Use the Bx1 or Bx2 along Grand Concourse and transfer to the subway at 170 St or 161 St-Yankee Stadium with a MetroCard. Use the Bx35 along E 167 St and transfer to the 4 at 167 St station with a MetroCard. If you need to transfer to another bus, ask the bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours. D train:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, uptown trains skip 155 St, 161 St-Yankee Stadium, and 170 St due to station enhancements at 167 St and 174-175 Sts. As an alternative, use a downtown D train to complete your trip. Transfer at Tremont Av or 145 St. As a reminder, the 167 St and 174-175 Sts B/D stations are closed for renovations.
• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound trains skip DeKalb Av and run express from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 36 St due to track and switch maintenance near DeKalb Av. As an alternative, use a Manhattan-bound D/N, or Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr bound R train to complete your trip. Transfer at 36 St or Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. Overnight R trains will not run between Whitehall St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr this weekend.

E train:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, Manhattan-bound trains skip 65 St, Northern Blvd, 46 St, Steinway St and 36 St due to track maintenance. As an alternative, use a Jamaica Center-bound E or Manhattan-bound F/R to complete your trip. Transfer at Roosevelt Av. Manhattan-bound F trains will run local during the late nights.

F train:

• At all times until December 2018, F trains will skip 57 St in both directions due to MTA's Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service, use nearby stations at 57 St-7 Av, 5 Av/59 St, 7 Av, 5 Av/53 St or 47-50 Sts. Local buses are also available along Fifth Avenue, Sixth Avenue and 57th Street. • From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, free shuttle buses replace trains between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av due to track maintenance. F trains will run between 179 St and Church Av. Free shuttle buses will make all line station stops between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av. Transfer between trains and shuttle buses at Church Av. For service between Manhattan/Downtown Brooklyn and Stillwell Av, take the D/N or Q.
• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, downtown trains skip 14 St due to track maintenance. As an alternative, use a 179 St-bound F train to complete your trip. Transfer at W 4 St-Wash Sq or 34 St-Herald Sq.

G train:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, free shuttle buses replace trains between Nassau Av and Court Sq due to station enhancements at Greenpoint Av. G trains will run between Nassau Av and Church Av. Free shuttle buses will make all G line station stops between Nassau Av and Court Sq. Transfer between trains and free shuttle buses at Nassau Av.

J train:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov 23. to 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, free shuttle buses and/or 4/6/F trains replace J trains between Hewes St and Broad St due to structural improvements.

M train:

• Beginning 8:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, M service will end early between 71 Av and Myrtle Av due to structural improvements along the J/M/Z lines.
• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov 30. to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec 3, free shuttle buses and/or J trains replace M service between Delancey-Essex Sts and Myrtle Av due to structural improvements along the J/M/Z lines. M trains will run between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Av. For service between Myrtle Av and Hewes St, take the J. For service between Hewes St and Delancey-Essex Sts, use free shuttle buses.

N train:

• At all times until Spring 2019, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Av, 18 Av, and 20 Av, due to station rehabilitation work on theSea Beach Line. For service to these stations, use a Manhattan-bound N train to complete your trip. Transfer at Bay Pkwy or 8 Av. For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the D instead. Transfer between N and D trains at 36 St.
• At all times until July 2019, trains will run local in both directions between 59 St and 36 St in Brooklyn due to structural rehabilitation work to repair and replace steel columns, lighting, ventilators, and deteriorated concrete, and perform water mitigation work to address water seepage in the express tunnel between the 59 St and 36 St stations. N trains will stop at 53 St and 45 St in both directions.
• At all times until February 2019, trains will skip Broadway and 39 Avin both directions due to MTA's Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service, use the nearby open Astoria line stations at 30 Av, 36 Av, or Queensboro Plaza via the Q102 bus. For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, click here.
• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov 30. to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec 3, free shuttle buses replace trains between Ditmars Blvd and Queensboro Plaza due to station improvements at Ditmars Blvd, Broadway and 39 Av. N trains will run between Queensboro Plaza and Coney Island-Stillwell Av. Free shuttle buses will make all N line station stops between Ditmars Blvd and Queensboro Plaza. Transfer between trains and buses at Queensboro Plaza. As a reminder, the Broadway and 39 Av stations are closed for renovations until February 2019.

N/R trains:

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov 30. to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec 3, downtown trains skip 49 St due to stations improvements. As an alternative, use an uptown N/Q local or R train to complete your trip. Transfer at Times Sq-42 St or 57 St-7 Av.
• From 10:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, Brooklyn-bound trains are rerouted via the Q (Manhattan Bridge) from Canal St to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, skipping DeKalb Av due to track and switch maintenance near DeKalb Av. For service to City Hall, Cortlandt St, Rector St, Whitehall St, Court St, Jay St-MetroTech and DeKalb Av, take the Q via transfer at Canal St or Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound Q trains will run via the R line (Lower Manhattan). As a reminder, overnight R trains will not run between Whitehall St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr this weekend.
• From 10:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound N and Bay Ridge-95 St R trains run express from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 36 St due to track maintenance. As an alternative, use an Astoria-bound N or 71 Av/Atlantic Av-bound R to complete your trip. Transfer at 36 St or Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. As a reminder, overnight R trains will not run between Whitehall St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr this weekend.

Q train:

• From 10:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound Q trains are rerouted via the R(Lower Manhattan) from Canal St to DeKalb Av due to track maintenance. Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound Q trains will stop at City Hall, Cortlandt St, Rector St, Whitehall St, Court St and Jay St-MetroTech.

R train:

• From 9:45 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, and from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2, Brooklyn-bound R trains are rerouted via the F line from 36 St, Queens to 57 St-7 Av due to track maintenance. For Queens Plaza station, take the E instead. For Lexington Av/59 St and 5 Av/59 St, use nearby 59 St 4/5/6 station via transfer at Lexington Av/53 St E or 14 St-Union Square R. Transfer at Times Sq-42 St/Port Authority E/R or Roosevelt Av E/R.
• From 10:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, N/Q trains replace R trains between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Whitehall St due to track maintenance. R trains will run between Bay Ridge-95 St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. Trains run express in both directions between 36 St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. As an alternative, use the D/N for service to/from bypassed stations. For service to DeKalb Av, Jay St-MetroTech, Court St and Whitehall St, use an Astoria-bound N instead. From these stations, take the Q.

S train:

• From 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 3, free shuttle buses replace the Franklin Av S trains due to track maintenance, tree trimming and removal and cleaning along the right of way. Free shuttle buses will make all S stops between Franklin Av and Prospect Park.
