NYC Weekend Subway Service Changes For June 23-24

NEW YORK, NY — If you're trying to get around the city this weekend, here's how the Metropolitan Transportation Authority might make that harder as service changes hit subways in the name of "upgrading and maintaining our tracks, stations and signal systems in order to continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable service."

Around the city, 19 train lines will be running with modified service late Friday night, June 22, to Monday morning, June 25, for the work, according to the MTA.

2 train

• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 11:59 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2 trains make all 5 line station stops between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St. Transfer between 2 and 5 trains at E 180 St.

2/3 train

• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 25, service will be suspended in Brooklyn due to "Fix&Fortify" Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel.
  • 2 and 3 trains will not run in Brooklyn. Four and 5 trains will run local in Brooklyn. Service will not be available at the Clark St. and Hoyt St. stations. As an alternative, use the nearby Borough Hall and Nevins St. 4 and 5 trains.
  • 2 trains will run between South Ferry and the Bronx, making local stops between Chambers St. and 34 St.
  • 3 trains will run between 14 St. and Harlem-148 St. Transfer at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr or Times Sq N, Q and R trains or free out of system transfer between Bowling Green 4 and 5 trains and South Ferry 1 and 2 trains.
  • 4 service will extend to New Lots Ave. except from 4:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2 to 10 p.m. Sunday, June 3, when the last stop for all Brooklyn-bound 4 trains will be Crown Hts-Utica Ave. Free shuttle buses will make all station stops between Crown Hts-Utica Ave. and New Lots Ave. during this time. Transfer between trains and shuttle buses at Crown Hts-Utica Ave.
  • 5 service will be extended to Flatbush Ave-Brooklyn College to replace the 2 train.

4 train

• From 10 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 23, uptown 4 trains run local from Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and 125 St, and downtown 4 trains run local from Grand Central-42 St to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall due to track replacement.

4/5 train

• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 25, 4 and 5 trains will run local in Brooklyn and make station stops due to "Fix&Fortify" Sandy Recovery Work in the Clark St Tunnel. 5 train service will be extended to Flatbush Ave.-Brooklyn College to replace the 2. 4 trains will run between Woodlawn and Crown Hts-Utica Ave. For service to New Lots Ave., use free shuttle buses making all station stops between Crown Hts-Utica Ave. and New Lots Ave. during this time. Transfer between trains and shuttle buses at Crown Hts-Utica Ave. A train free out-of-system transfer is available between Bowling Green and South Ferry stations.

4/6 train

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 23, downtown 4/5 trains run express from 125 St to Grand Central-42 St due to track replacement. Use an uptown 4 or 6 to complete your trip. Transfer at Grand Central-42 St, 59 St, 86 St, or 125 St.

5 train

• From 11:45 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 11:59 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 5 trains make all 2 line station stops between Wakefield-2421 St and E 180 St. Transfer between 2 and 5 trains at E 180 St.

6 train

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 25, Manhattan-bound 6 trains run express from Parkchester to 3 Av-138 St due to track replacement. Use a Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 to complete your trip. Transfer at 3 Av-138 St, Hunts Point Av, or Parkchester.

7 train

• From 5:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24, Hudson Yards-bound 7 trains run express from Willets Point to 74 St-Broadway due to track maintenance. Use a Flushing-bound 7 to complete your trip. Transfer at 74 St-Broadway, Junction Blvd, or Willets Point.

A/C train

• At all times until September 2018, A and C trains skip 163 St.-Amsterdam Ave. in both directions due to MTA's Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby 168 St. A and C, 155 St. A and C, or 157 St. 1 train instead. Use M3, M100 or M101 buses and transfer to the A and C at 168 St. or 155 St. with MetroCard. Need to transfer to another bus? Ask the M3, M100 or M101 driver for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which is valid on your next local bus ride within two hours. On your return trip, ask the station agent at 168 St or 155 St for a transfer to the bus.

B train

• Beginning 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, B service will end early due track maintenance. Take the C/D and/or Q instead. As a reminder, B service does not run on weekends.

B/C train

• At all times until September 2018, B and C trains will skip Cathedral Parkway-110 St. in both directions due to MTA's Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service during this closure, walk to the nearby B and C stations at 116 St. and 103 St., along Fredrick Douglas Blvd./Central Park West. Or take the 1 at 110 St., along Broadway. Use the M10 bus along Fredrick Douglas Blvd and transfer to the B and C (A overnight) at 116 St. or 103 St. with MetroCard. If you need to transfer to another bus, ask the M10 bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer, which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours. On your return trip, ask the station agent at 116 St or 103 St for a transfer to the bus.
• At all times until October 2018, trains will skip 72 St in both directions due to MTA's Enhanced Station Initiative project. For alternate service during this closure, use nearby B and C stations at 81 St.-Museum of Natural History and 59 St.-Columbus Circle. Or take the 1, 2 or 3 at 72 St., along Broadway. Use an M10 bus along Frederick Douglass Blvd and transfer to the B and C (A overnight) at 81 St. or 59 St. with MetroCard. If you need to transfer to another bus, ask the M10 bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours. On your return trip, ask the station agent at 81 St or 59 St for a transfer to the bus.
• At all times until late October 2018, B/C trains will skip 86 St in both directions due to MTA's Enhanced Station Initiative project. See the entry above for project details. D train

• From 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 23, D trains are rerouted via the N line from Coney Island-Stillwell Av to 36 St due to station improvements at 62 St. Free shuttle buses make all D line station stops between Stillwell Av and 36 St. Transfer between N trains and shuttle buses at 36 St, 62 St-New Utrecht Av, or Stillwell Av.
• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 25, Norwood-205 St bound D trains skip 170 St, 174-175 Sts, and 182-183 Sts due to track maintenance. Use a Coney Island-Stillwell Av-bound D train to complete your trip. Transfer at Fordham Rd, Tremont Av, or 167 St.
• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 25, Coney Island-Stillwell Av-bound D trains skip 155 St due to drain cleaning as part of the Subway Action Plan. Use a Norwood-205 St bound D train to complete your trip. Transfer at 145 St or 161 St-Yankee Stadium.

D/N trains

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 25, Coney Island-Stillwell Av-bound D/N trains run express in Brooklyn from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 36 St D/59 St N, due to electrical improvements. Use a Manhattan-bound D/N local or R to complete your trip. Transfer at 59 St, 36 St, or Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.

E train

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 25, E trains are rerouted via the F line in both directions between W 4 St-Wash Sq and 36 St due to track maintenance. Use nearby F stations on 6 Av to complete your trip. For service to Queens Plaza, use the R days/evenings. Transfer at W 4 St-Wash Sq A/C/E, Times Sq-42 St/Port Authority 7/A/C/R, 47-50 Sts D/E, 21 St-Queensbridge E/F, and or 74 St Roosevelt Av 7/E/R. Free shuttle buses provide alternate service connecting Court Sq-23 St, 21 St-Queensbridge, and Queens Plaza.

F train

• At all times until mid-2018, Manhattan-bound F trains skip Avenue U, Avenue P, Avenue N, Bay Pkwy and Avenue I due to station renewal work on the Culver Line.
  • For service from these stations, take a Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. bound F train to Kings Hwy or Avenue X and transfer to a Manhattan-bound F.
  • For service to these stations, take a Manhattan-bound F train to Kings Hwy or 18 Ave. and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound F.
• From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, June 23, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 25, F trains run local in both directions between 71 Av and 21 St-Queensbridge due to signal modernization.

G train

• From 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 25, G service is suspended in both directions between Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts and Church Av due to structural improvements. G service will operate in two sections: between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs, and between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts every 20 minutes. To continue your trip, transfer at Bedford-Nostrand Avs G, Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts A/C/G, or Jay St-MetroTech A/C/F.

J train

• At all times until Summer 2018, Jamaica Center Parsons/Archer-bound J trains skip 121 St. due to station rehabilitation work. For service to this station, take the J to Sutphin Blvd. and transfer to a Broad St.-bound J. As a reminder, Broad St-bound J trains skip 121 St. from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. on weekdays; take the Z instead. For service from this station, take the J to 111 St and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound J.

J/M train

• From 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24, Jamaica Center-bound J and Metropolitan Av-bound M trains skip Hewes St, Lorimer St, and Flushing Av due to track replacement south of Myrtle Av. Use a Manhattan-bound J or M to complete your trip. Transfer at Myrtle Av, Marcy Av, or Delancey-Essex Sts.

M train

• Beginning 8:15 p.m. Friday, June 22, M service will end early between 71 Av and Delancey-Essex Sts due to track maintenance and electrical improvements in the 53 Street tunnel.

N train

• At all times until fall 2018, Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. bound N trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Ave., 18 Ave., 20 Ave., Kings Hwy, Avenue U and 86 St. due to station rehabilitation work at nine stations on the Sea Beach Line.
  • For New Utrecht Ave.-62 St., take the D. Transfer between N and D trains at 36 St. or Coney Island-Stillwell Ave.
  • For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound N to Bay Pkwy or 8 Ave. and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. bound N.
  • For service to these stations, take the Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. bound N to Bay Pkwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Ave. and transfer to a Manhattan-bound N.
• From 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, downtown N trains run local from 34 St-Herald Sq to Canal St due to track maintenance.

Q train

• From 10 p.m. Friday, June 22, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 25, downtown Q trains run local from 34 St-Herald Sq to Canal St due to track maintenance.

R train

• From 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 22 to 5 a.m. Monday, June 25, Bay Ridge-bound R trains run express in Brooklyn from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to 59 St due to electrical improvements. Use a Manhattan-bound D/N local, or R to complete your trip. Transfer at 59 St N/R, 36 St D/N/R, or Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr D/N/R.
