NYC Weekend Weather: Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Could Soak City

A chance of downpours and isolated thunderstorms enters New York City's forecast Friday and into Saturday, meteorologists say.

NEW YORK CITY — A downpour could usher in New York City's weekend before skies clear and sun returns, forecasters say.

Rain and a chance of thunderstorms return to the city's forecast Friday night and into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

The culprit is a weather system that moved through the Midwest this week, bringing heavy rain, AccuWeather reported.

New York City could receive a "thorough soaking" and "disruptive downpours" when the system arrives, according to AccuWeather.

"Chance of precipitation is 40%," the National Weather Service forecast states.
