Subway Fires Snarl Commutes On 6 Lines, MTA Says
Allow extra travel time if you're taking the F, M, N, Q, R or W train.

NEW YORK, NY — Track fires at two stations are causing delays on six subway lines Wednesday morning, the MTA said. Trains on the F, M, N, Q, R and W lines are running behind after debris caught fire at the Broadway-Lafayette and 49th Street stations, an MTA spokesman said.
Station workers put out the small fire at Broadway-Lafayette after it started at 8:20 a.m., spokesman Shams Tarek said. FDNY firefighters extinguished the 49th Street fire, which started at 8:35 a.m., Tarek said.
Service was back to normal about half an hour later in each case, Tarek said. The MTA advises commuters to allow extra travel time on those lines.
