Cops: 2 Charged in Flower Hill, Great Neck Burglaries

The burglaries occurred in October, police say.

Two men face charges in connection with Flower Hill and Great Neck burglaries that occurred in October, authorities said Tuesday.

Nassau Police say that on Oct. 7, 2014 at 5 p.m. a male victim, 22, arrived at his North Clover Drive home in Great Neck Estates and saw David Jimenez, 16, of Flushing standing at his front door. The victim also saw Tomas Rios, 16, of the Bronx, in the kitchen of his home. After the victim yelled, both defendants ran from the home.

According to detectives, on Oct. 28, at 7:05 p.m. two victims arrived at their Bayberry Ridge, Flower Hill home and saw Jimenez in the driveway. Jimenez rode his bicycle from the scene and when the residents entered the house they discovered their bedroom had been ransacked.

Officers responding to the call located Jimenez on Port Washington Boulevard in Flower Hill where he was found to be in possession of cocaine and was placed under arrest at 8:24 p.m. An investigation determined Rios was also involved in the second incident, police said.

Jimenez was charged with second-degree burglary and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and was arraigned on Oct. 29, according to police.

Rios was placed under arrest on Tuesday at the 109 Precinct in Queens, with the assistance of the NYPD. He is charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and will be arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead. Jimenez will be charged with a second count of second-degree burglary at a later date, police said.
