Bad Kitty! NYT Bestselling Children's Author Pounces Into Town

The author and illustrator of the popular children's book series "Bad Kitty" will make a virtual visit to the New Rochelle Public Library.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Kids will have a chance to learn drawing secrets from a New York Times bestselling children's book illustrator and author this month.

The New Rochelle Public Library is inviting children ages 5-12, along with their parents and caregivers, to join for a virtual visit with Nick Bruel, the author and illustrator of the popular Bad Kitty children's book series. Bruel will read from one of his books, guide attendees through drawing demonstrations and answer questions from the audience.

Families are welcome to attend in person at the Main Library where Children’s Librarian Kate Waters will moderate the program. Children and caregivers can also participate remotely.

Kids at the library and at home should have pencils and paper at hand as Bruel leads them through a few creative exercises and shows off a few tricks of the trade.

In addition to being a bestselling author, Bruel is a freelance illustrator and cartoonist, and during his down time, he collects PEZ dispensers and grows tomatoes in his backyard. He lives in Tarrytown with his wife Carina and their cat Esmerelda and dog Toby.

Bruel will make his virtual drop-in at the New Rochelle Public Library on September 27, from 4:30 p.m. until 5:15 p.m.
