Hanukkah Events Near New Rochelle Brighten The Season
This year Hanukkah begins on the evening of Dec. 12 and ends on Dec. 20.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY—Hanukkah, the festival of lights, doesn't start until December 12 but there will be plenty of opportunities to celebrate during the coming weeks. Here's a rundown of what's available in your area. These are just a few of the many holiday events in the area, so if we missed one that is important to you, please let us know in the comments below.

Menorah Lighting Celebration at Stew Leonard's, 1 Stew Leonard's Drive, Yonkers
The store will have its annual Menorah Lighting Celebration at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14. The celebration
begins with Cantor Chanin Becker of Scarsdale Synagogue-Temples Tremont and Emanu-El leading traditional Hanukkah song-singing, followed by the lighting of a 21-foot menorah. After the lighting ceremony, there will be potato pancakes (latkes) and applesauce, jelly donuts, hot cocoa, and juice.

Chanukah Celebration at Cross County Shopping Center, 8000 Mall Walk, Yonkers
Chabad of Yonkers will light the menorah and celebrate Hanukkah from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 14. Enjoy live music from the What's Up Band as well as hot latkes, dreidels, cultural dancing, chocolate gelt and fun for the
whole family. The event and parking are free.
Chocolate coins will rain from the sky at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at the The Hanukkah Gelt Drop, Memorial Park, White Plains Road and California Road, Eastchester. The coins will be dropped by Eastchester Fire Department firefighters. There will be a menorah lighting, music, hot latkes and donuts. The event is organized by the Chabad Jewish Center of Bronxville.
Fairway Market will have its Menorah Lighting at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 12. The market is located at 847 Pelham Parkway, Pelham. Latkes and donuts will be served. The event is organized by Chabad of Pelham. Chabad of Pelham also plans a Hanukkah Magical Spectacular from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at Daronco Town House, 20 Fifth Avenue, Pelham.
A free community concert to celebrate Hanukkah, featuring Josh Nelson, will take place at 11 a.m. on Dec. 17 at Temple Israel of Northern Westchester, 31 Glengary Road, Croton-on-Hudson.
A public menorah lighting is planned for 6 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Elephant Hotel, Routes 100 and 202, Somers.
Rockland
The JCC Rockland Koenig Hanukkah Celebration takes place from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 1o. It's a fun day for children and families to celebrate together.
Hanukkah Story Time at Barnes and Noble—with singing and dancing—takes place from 6 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 11 at the Barnes and Noble store in the Palisades Mall, 4416 Palisades Center Drive, West Nyack.
A Hanukkah Havdalah, Dinner and Laser Light Show will take place at 5:30 Dec. 16 at the New City Jewish Center, 47 Old Schoolhouse Road, New City. Free. All are welcome.
An Eighth Night of Hanukkah Family Fun Celebration will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 19 at Congregation Shaarey Israel, 18 Montebello Road, Suffern.
Putnam
Chabad of Putnam presents a Menorah Workshop from 2 to 3 p.m. Dec. 10 at Home Depot, 80 Independence Way, Brewster. Build your own menorah, free worker's apron, Hanukkah treats, fun for the whole family. Click here to RSVP.
The Kent Library will feature a Hanukkah Storytime from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11. The library is located at 17 Sybills Crossing, Carmel.Besides stories and songs, there will be crafts, treats and games. It's open to all ages but registration is required.
Cold Spring's Menorah Lighting will take place at 1 p.m. Dec. 17 at the end of Main Street near Cold Spring Depot. Donuts, latkes, kids' crafts and gelt.
A Hanukkah Emoji Party is planned for 10 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 17 at Chabad of Putnam, 5 Fair Street, Carmel. To RSVP, click here.
Hudson Valley
The Rhinebeck Jewish Center, 102 Montgomery St., will have its annual Hanukkah Family Fun Day
from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 10. The event will feature holiday crafts workshops with artistic menorahs, dreidels and holiday decorations. There will be a Chocolate Hanukkah Gelt Factory workshop, in which children can make their own chocolate coins.
Congregation Emmanuel of the Hudson Valley, 243 Albany Avenue, Kingston
The congregation will celebrate a Hanukkah Community Candle Lighting Service, with storytelling, and singing. Bring your menorahs, (and candles for your menorahs) and some sufganiyots (donuts) to share for kiddush. There will also be Hanukkah Happenings and Silent Auction for the whole congregation. Activities include games, booths, arts and crafts (including cupcake decorating), planned by the Temple Youth Group for kids of all ages. Check the site for dates, times and more information.
The Beacon Hebrew Alliance will have a community Hanukkah celebration from 11 .m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 17. While the event is geared towards children, all are welcome to join in the songs, skits, dreidel playing, arts
and crafts, and delicious latkes.The event takes place at 331 Verplanck Avenue, Beacon.
