House Hunters New Rochelle Showing With 'The Cowboy That Closes'

The popular HGTV show features the Westchester city in an episode titled "New New Rochelle vs. Old New Rochelle" airing Aug. 18.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle is ready for its close-up on Wednesday night and one of the city's best known real estate agents will have a starring role when HGTV's House Hunters comes to town.

Real estate agent Adam Cherko, affectionately known as "The Cowboy That Closes," will help a couple navigate the housing market in his hometown. The episode airing on Wednesday night is titled "New New Rochelle vs. Old New Rochelle."

Cherko told Patch he wasn't allowed to discuss the details of the episode for fear of accidentally revealing spoilers. According to HGTV, the show filmed in New Rochelle will feature a young couple with "very different ideas in their search for a home." She wants an old fixer-upper with character that can build equity, but he prefers spending money up front for something modern and move-in ready.

Although Cherko couldn't tell us which of the partners ended up compromising and which ended up with their New Rochelle dream home, he was able to reveal that he "had a blast" filming the episode. He also revealed how he earned his unique nickname.

"I teach a line dancing class and so I'm always wearing a cowboy hat," Cherko explained. "The name just kinda stuck."
