Lottery Open For 7 Affordable Units In New Luxury Building

Amenities include a rooftop deck with a NYC skyline view and a pet salon, but hurry because the deadline to apply is soon.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The newest luxury apartment building in downtown New Rochelle is now accepting applications for seven reduced rent, affordable housing units.

The six-story newly built residential building features amenities that include a pet salon, a fitness center and rooftop community areas with fire pits, grills and a view of both the Manhattan skyline and the Long Island Sound. Four studio apartments and three one-bedroom apartments have been set aside as affordable units in the soon to open Huguenot building.

Applications for the "fair and affordable rent" apartments must be received by the Housing Action Council by Oct. 22. Preference for the units will be given to those who already live or work in New Rochelle. The apartments will be available for occupancy in the fall/winter of this year.

The apartments are available to those with a household income below 80 percent of the average monthly income in the region. A single person would need to make less than $71,440 annually to be eligible, while a three-person family can earn up to $91,800.

Winning applicants will pay $1,688 per month for a 422-square-foot studio apartment or $1,802 for a one-bedroom unit. Utilities are not included.
