Lottery Open For Affordable Apartments At 'The Atelier' In Westchester

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A new chance for renters to combat the ongoing affordable housing crisis is here for a lucky few.

The Housing Action Council announced that The Atelier, a newly constructed six-story building located at 8 Westchester Place in New Rochelle, has 65 affordable housing apartments. Preference will be shown for certified artists and New Rochelle workers and residents.

The rentals are available to those at or below 80 percent of the area average monthly household income. In order to qualify, a one-person household can have a maximum income of $82,250, a two-person household can have a maximum income of $94,000, a three-person household can have a maximum income of $105,750, and a four-person household can have a maximum income of $117,450.

Monthly rental prices for the affordable units available, based on Area Median Income (AMI) are:

• Studio (31 units available): $1,853
• One-bedroom (26 units available): $1,975
• Two-bedroom (8 units available): $2,063

The Atelier is located in downtown New Rochelle, and is walking distance to the Metro-North/Amtrak station, retail stores and restaurants. It is also located close to Iona and Monroe Colleges, the New Rochelle Public Library, and Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital. Nearby recreational areas include Hudson Park & Beach and Five Island Park on the Long Island Sound.
