Lottery Open For Affordable Apartments At 'The Grand' In Westchester

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Yet another new chance for renters to combat the ongoing affordable housing crisis is here for a lucky few.

The Housing Action Council announced that The Grand, a newly constructed 70-unit luxury building located at 57 Grand Street in New Rochelle, will have seven affordable units set aside. Amenities include a state-of-the-art fitness center, lobby and rooftop lounges, a business center, a storage facility and multiple charging stations. According to The Grand's website, tenants become instant members to the VIP Country Club where they enjoy access to the club’s private cabanas, a pool, beach, cafe, bar, volleyball, kayaks, tennis courts, bbq stations and organized events.

Affordable units will be available to those at or below 80 percent of the area average monthly household income. In order to qualify, a one-person household can have a maximum income of $82,250, a two-person household can have a maximum income of $94,000, and a three-person household can have a maximum income of $105,750.

Preference will be shown for New Rochelle residents and workforce, and residents of the New Rochelle Downtown Overlay Zone.

Monthly rental prices for the affordable units available, based on Area Median Income (AMI) are:

• Studio (4 units available): $1,903
• One-bedroom (3 units available): $2,027

The Grand is located in downtown New Rochelle, and is walking distance to the Metro-North/Amtrak station, retail stores and restaurants. It is also located close to Iona and Monroe Colleges, the New Rochelle Public Library, and Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital. Nearby recreational areas include Hudson Park & Beach and Five Island Park on the Long Island Sound.
