Lottery Open For Affordable Apartments At 'The Illustrator'
The rents will range from $1,915 for a studio to $2,434 for a two-bedroom for those who meet household income requirements.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Yet another new chance for renters to combat the ongoing affordable housing crisis is here for a lucky few.
The Housing Action Council announced that The Illustrator, a newly constructed six-story, 75-unit luxury building located at 600 North Ave. in New Rochelle, will have eight affordable units set aside.
Amenities at the pet-friendly building include controlled access, a rooftop terrace with bbq grills, a pet play area, a pet washing station, a secure package facility, a lounge, washer/dryer, onsite parking, a business center, a fitness center, reserved workspaces and a dry cleaning service.

Affordable units will be available to those at or below 80 percent of the area average monthly household income. In order to qualify, a one-person household can have a maximum income of $82,250, a two-person household can have a maximum income of $94,000, a three-person household can have a maximum income of $105,750, and a four-person household can have a maximum income of $117,450.

- Studio, 602 s.f. (2 units immediately available): $1,915
- One-bedroom, one-bath, 765 s.f. - 800 s.f. (4 units immediately available): $2,027
- Two-bedroom, two-bath, 1,118 s.f. (2 units, waitlist): $2,434
Utilities are not included.
The Illustrator is located just north of Lincoln Ave. in New Rochelle, and is walking distance to the Metro-North/Amtrak station, retail stores and restaurants. It is also located close to Iona and Monroe Colleges, the New Rochelle Public Library, and Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital. Nearby recreational areas include Hudson Park & Beach and Five Island Park on the Long Island Sound.
The deadline for applications is December 20, 2023. Applications for studios and one-bedrooms will be considered on a first come, first served basis. Applicants for the two-bedrooms will be put on a waitlist.
