New Rochelle Biz Serves Up Cupcakes, Plans Parties
Shari Ivler, who lives in New Rochelle, talks about her catering and party planning business.
If you're planning a Pirate Party and require brigand-themed cupcakes, your answer lies with a New Rochelle-based business.
But if you're organizing something a bit more conventional, Shari Ivler can help with that, too.
Ivler—who made the move from New York City to southern Westchester County with her husband and daughter late last year—has started Shabou Creations, a creative party planning and cupcake business with a focus on local fetes.

"I'm along the lines of kids birthday parties and bridal showers," she explained. "It's a new business—we're on the small scale."
Ivler calls Weaver Street in New Rochelle home, in a neighborhood that abuts Scarsdale.

Shabou Creations caters to parents who want their youngsters to have a memorable shindig, but without digging too deep into their wallets, Ivler said.
Ivler noted Shabou Creations' modest beginnings came from a number of positive reactions.
"I planned a few parties for some friends and got great feedback," Ivler said. "[And] there's a real market for it out here. I decided to give it a try."
While baby showers and similar parties are the norm, Ivler says she can muster "anything that somebody is looking for." Her knack for custom cupcakes makes just about any gala possible—even a Pirate Party.
"People can customize the cupcakes," Ivler explained, noting Valentine's Day treats and spring-themed desserts are all doable.
