Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Garden Volunteers

Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

Garden Educators
Hudson Park Children's Greenhouse is seeking retired teachers to help instruct classes for students at its greenhouse. Garden Educators are needed for classes during the school day, after school, and on weekends, and the schedule is based on volunteers' availability.

Website Volunteer
Public-Private Alliance Foundation is a small non-profit promoting solar cooking in Haiti to benefit families and the environment by reducing reliance on charcoal. The organization needs assistance updating and maintaining its website; volunteers with web development skills and experience with Weebly are encouraged to express interest!

Food Pantry Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help unpack pallets of food, stock the food pantry, take inventory of items, and bag food for home deliveries. Volunteers must be able to pick up 25 pounds and be comfortable working outdoors. Bilingual (Spanish/English) volunteers welcome and all training will be provided.
Date: Feb. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; Thursdays

Bilingual (Spanish-English) Translators
Bilingual (Spanish-English) volunteers are needed to assist as translators at tabling events to promote the Double Up Food Bucks program. Volunteers will engage with shoppers in Spanish, answer questions, and distribute materials about the initiative. Volunteers MUST be 18+ and able to speak Spanish fluently.
Date: Feb. 3 to Feb. 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays
