2 Nabbed During North Fork Underage Drinking Enforcement Sweep: PD

Compliance checks took place at 13 North Fork establishments, police say.

NORTH FORK, NY — Two clerks were nabbed during an underage drinking enforcement sweep on the North Fork recently, police said.

According to Southold Town police on July 11, two 7-Eleven employees, a 28-year-old from the location on Main Road in Mattituck and a 36-year-old from the Greenport location, were arrested and charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, a misdemeanor; they were processed and released on field appearance tickets, police said.

The Southold Police Department’s community response unit conducted compliance checks at 13 retail establishments. The purpose of the initiative was to ensure compliance with New York State laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol to individuals under the age of 21, police said.
