Happy Ending For Cat Missing After Funeral On North Fork

MATTITUCK, NY — On the saddest of days, one Mattituck family found some measure of solace as their lost cat, Rick, made his way home safely.

Dave and Kate Moisa, who live with their two young boys on Grand Avenue in Mattituck, had just attended Dave's grandmother's funeral when they learned that their beloved family cat was missing.

"It's a real hard day," said Donna Hubbard, Dave's aunt.

But Tuesday night, Rick was found. "They went outside to the front porch before going to bed and there he was," Hubbard said.

While they were at the funeral, family members were at the house watching the boys. And then, when they went to join everyone after the funeral, they realized that the cat was nowhere to be found.

The family was heartsick while he was gone. "The boys were just devastated," Hubbard said.
