This year, the Juneteenth Parade and Celebration event, organized by the Clinton Memorial AME Zion Church in Greenport, the North Fork chapter of Coming to the Table, a national organization dedicated to racial healing, and the Southold Anti-Bias Task Force, takes place on Saturday, June 28, beginning at 10 a.m. with words from Pastor Natalie Wimberly and a blessing from church elders at the Clinton Memorial A.M.E. Participants in the parade, which kicks off at 11 a.m., will walk down Main Street, starting at the corner of Center Street, proceeding to Front Street and ending at Mitchell Park.

This year's event is youth focused: Organizers are hosting an art and essay contest and the submissions are "a mix of powerful, beautiful and heartbreaking," they said. A Community Justice Quilt was also created, with participants gathering for a quilting circle earlier in June.
